Although I jump between using new media and traditional methods, there are certain common aspects in everything I do; I either like lots of bright colours or a near monochromatic look, I love including things that will either make me (and other people) laugh or think or both, I use lots of layers and mixed media - it is rare for me to stick to one medium. And I don't usually use canvas, I prefer paper but I am now working on a series of canvas pieces because it will cost me a fortune to frame all the paper pieces if I keep making them.
Most of the time, I don't think about how I do things or who they might appeal to, I just see things around me and think they'd make good art. Having studied fine art and media for my BA and MA degrees at Liverpool Hope University, I think I am very heavily influenced by pop culture but I like to mix it with science or nature and anything else that pops up. The overall theme of anything I do is generally "I shouldn't be laughing...but..."
I have many projects in the works at the moment including setting up a research conference, exhibiting, forming international contacts (mainly because I want to spend August working on art in Berlin) and becoming an expert cocktail mixologist, which I feel is really essential to expanding my colour palette knowledge...
